WHAT IS SHUFFLEBOARD?
Table shuffleboard (also called "Dutch Shuffleboard" or "Sjoelen" in some circles) is a classic bar game played on a long, smooth table. Players take turns sliding weighted pucks down a 22-foot board, trying to land them in scoring zones without falling off the end. Think of it as bowling meets curling — with a beer in your other hand.
HOW WE PLAY IT
- Teams of 2: You can sign up solo (we'll match you) or bring a partner.
- Round-robin format: Every team plays every other team during the season.
- Best of 3 games: Each match consists of up to 3 games. First to win 2 takes the match. Games are played to 15 points.
- Season length: 6 weeks with 1 game night per week.
SCORING
The board is divided into zones marked 1, 2, 3, and 4. Pucks must cross the foul line to count. If a puck is hanging over the far edge, it scores bonus points. The first team to reach 15 points wins the game.
- Zone 1: 1 point
- Zone 2: 2 points
- Zone 3: 3 points
- Zone 4 (hanger): 4 points
DO I NEED EXPERIENCE?
Absolutely not. Most of our players had never touched a shuffleboard before joining. We do a quick intro before your first game, and by week 2 you'll be throwing like a pro. The beauty of shuffleboard is that it's genuinely easy to pick up but surprisingly strategic once you get into it.
